Meet Our Founder,

From the lab to the classroom, Heng Hui's career is a testament to her relentless drive to enhance food experiences for everyone.

 

Her journey, marked by a deep passion for food science, safety, and innovation, showcases a lifelong dedication to excellence.

Heng Hui is a self-described gastronome with a fervent passion for creating "better for you" food options. Her path began with a degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, which laid the foundation for her unwavering commitment to the field. Throughout her career, she has continually pushed the boundaries of food science, driven by a desire to innovate and ensure the highest standards of food safety. Her work reflects a profound dedication to improving the food industry, making it safer and more enjoyable for all.

While becoming a (medical) doctor has always been my childhood ambition, my journey has led me to a fulfilling career in the food industry.

 

Over the years, I've gained extensive experience and a deep passion for this dynamic field. This passion, coupled with my unfaltering desire to help people, fuels my drive to excel as a food consultant.

 

Now, I can leverage my skills to empower stakeholders in the food business, ensuring their success translates to healthier and happier consumers.

 

I act as your ‘General Practitioner’, identifying the root causes of challenges (anything from stagnant sales to inefficient production lines or inconsistent product quality) and providing customized solutions to ensure your success.

I quote Dr. Glenn Doyle “ … always look for the thing you can do, with the energy and focus you do have.” Therefore, I took the leap, seizing the KAIROS (i.e. the right or opportune) moment to do what I can with the energy and focus I have.

 

Kairos Integrated Food Solutions is incorporated to do what I can do with and for the food industry. 

The hardest part is the starting.

About Kairos Integrated Food Solutions Pte Ltd

When faced with the initial setback of her family business going bankrupt upon her graduation, she clung to a promise in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Embarking on her professional journey, she became the first food technologist at Food Empire (then known as Future Enterprises, FES). In this role, she spearheaded all facets of research and development (R&D) and quality assurance (QA), navigating interactions with global markets, sourcing from contract manufacturers and raw materials suppliers, establishing robust food safety quality management systems (HACCP), and establishing the in-house microbial testing laboratory for the manufacturing facilities.

From Academic Pursuit to Industry Expertise

Heng Hui's expertise extends well beyond product development. She played a pivotal role in ensuring the regulatory compliance of a diverse range of products, including beverages and frozen seafood ready-to-cook, for export markets. Her dedication to safe food handling practices continued at YUM! Restaurants International, where she audited key suppliers and trained franchisees in food safety and quality management. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, she spearheaded pioneering research and development initiatives, successfully launching new brands in developing markets.

Building Robust Food Safety Systems

Embracing a philosophy of perpetual learning, Heng Hui joined Nanyang Polytechnic in 2008 as a lecturer. Over time, she assumed the additional role of Senior Specialist, overseeing the ISO 17025 accredited Food Safety Centre and leading the Translational (Food) Research team. This expanded responsibility allowed her to support food manufacturers more directly through consultancy services. Her impact extends to curating curriculum and delivering training sessions to international delegates from governmental ministries and institutions in the domains of food innovation, technology, and safety. Recognition for her outstanding contributions came in 2022 with the MOE Outstanding Innovators' Award.

Sharing Knowledge and Fostering Innovation

Bolstering her credentials, she acquired qualifications in BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 8 to 9: Train the Trainer Conversion Certification and the CQI and IRCA Certified ISO 22000:2018 Lead Auditor for Food Safety Management Systems. Through her steadfast dedication and expertise, Heng Hui aspires to continue to shape the landscape of food science and safety.
